Vivid Sydney Festival 2017
There were a lot of things I was excited to see in Australia when I was planning my move and Vivid Sydney was at the top of my list! I had high expectations for Vivid Sydney 2017 and I am happy to say that I was not disappointed, Vivid Sydney was amazing! Sydney has so many places to go to enjoy the light displays, so I loved that I could stroll through the streets and see artwork. There were so many little displays and interactive ones as well. I didn’t get to see everything, but next year I know to plan more time for the festival. Here are a few of my favorite Vivid Sydney 2017 displays. Enjoy!
Taronga Zoo
Seeing the Vivid display at Taronga Zoo is an absolute must! I wasn’t sure if I would be able to fit this experience into my schedule, but thankfully I didn’t put it off until next year. The Vivid Light show at Taronga zoo is the Lights for the Wild walk and it was my favorite Vivid display. The displays were so ornate and fun, I loved them all!
Circular Quay: The Sydney Opera House & Royal Botanical Gardens
The sails of the Sydney Opera House displayed living artwork & it was one of the most incredible things I’ve ever seen! I have so many favorites it’s hard to choose from, but I think the jellyfish display may be my favorite!
Circular Quay was alive with a light show, the buildings and Sydney Harbour Bridge were a sight to see! I loved the changing artwork on the Museum the most.
The Royal Botanical Gardens (also known as Sydneyland during Vivid!) had a lot of displays. There was a single path people could walk along to see the different artworks.
The Rocks
There were so many different displays in The Rocks! I loved being able to stroll up and down the alley ways to see the artwork. There were also food stands, art stands, and different vendors stationed throughout the area, so definitely a lot to do on this side of town.
The two interactive displays are a changing wall art of wings (above) and a swing set (below) that had periods of show time and times when people could swing on them!
Chatswood
Chatswood didn’t have a lot of Vivid displays, but I must say that it was worth the trip out just to see this one! I loved watching the colors change on this giant display & I’m kind of hoping to install a smaller version in my home one day!
Darling Harbour – boat cruise
Not only can you walk around the streets and main areas, but you can go on boat cruises around the harbour! The views are magnificent, be sure to add this on your Vivid Sydney list! It is cold, but it’s worth it. Look for deals on Groupon or Living Social to get tickets for cheap.
So there you go! These were some of my favorite displays from Vivid Sydney 2017. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for next year! If you have any tips or any other places I need to check out next year please let me know.
