Cherokee Rock Village

Cherokee Rock Village is a great place to visit if you’re looking for a good view or to go bouldering/rock climbing! This spot is a part of Lookout Mountain (and more on this later), so you know that the views are going to be amazing. This park also has over 200 acres of sandstone boulders, which are surreal to walk through as you hike.

Peavine Falls, Oak Mountain State Park

Oak Mountain State Park is such a local gem that is close to home for me. Located in Pelham, Alabama, this park is easily accessible in the Birmingham area. I actually graduated from Pelham High School, so this park is practically in my backyard. However, even though I graduated high school so close to Oak Mountain, I never actually visited the park (or Peavine Falls) while I was in school.

A lot of times when something is close to us we may not realize what a blessing it is. I was often seeking adventures in far away places instead of looking at all that nature had to offer me close to home. Being back home has made me realize what a great area I live in for those who love the outdoors like me.

Peavine Falls

My favorite hike at Oak Mountain has to be the hike to Peavine Falls. This hike has its own parking lot, and while you can get to Peavine Falls from many other areas, parking in the lot is the closest and fastest way to get to the Falls.

Caving at Stephens Gap

Stephens Gap

On my birthday I like to go on adventures and this year was no exception! I finally made a trip out to Stephens Gap, a natural cave with a large opening in North Alabama. This natural wonder is a stunning attraction for hikers and cavers.

Location

Stephens Gap is a cave located in Woodville, about 30 minutes north of Guntersville. The cave has a 140 foot pit with two entrances: one you can rappel down and the other you can walk through. There is also a waterfall that comes down through the top opening of the cave that adds just a little bit more wonder to the experience.

Day Trip to Lookout Mountain – Rock City

I don’t know what it is about the autumn season, but I love a good fall road trip! I saw photos of the Rock City waterfall online about a year before and decided that as soon as it was the fall season again I would make a trip. The day trip to Lookout Mountain was such a nice trip!

Rock City – Lookout Mountain is actually located in Georgia and it’s only about a 3 hour drive from Birmingham, Alabama. There are a lot of other tourist attractions in the area, and most are actually located  in Tennessee since you’re pretty much right on the state border.

Morisset Park Day Trip

The perfect place to go if you’re looking to see kangaroos is Morisset Park! Officially, the park was built next to a psychiatric ward so that the kangaroos could help the patients, but now, it’s more of a place where you can go to see kangaroos in the ‘wild’! A Morisset Park Day trip is the perfect way to see kangaroos while you’re in Sydney and you don’t have too far to go.

What to do in sydney when it rains

There’s nothing like being excited for a holiday and then having it rain when you get to your destination! Don’t let the weather dampen your trip. I’ve put a list together of places to go when the weather isn’t cooperating. Here’s some ideas for what to do in Sydney when it rains.

The main things I would recommend doing when it’s raining is to check out the Wild Life Zoo, Sydney Sea Life Aquarium, and Wax Museum. All three are located near each other in Darling Harbour, and they are all indoors! You can even buy an annual Merlin pass for $99 that lets you in to all 3 and a few other tourist spots (Sydney Tower Eye, Manly Aquarium) around town. If you only want to pay for one, I recommend going to the The Wildlife Zoo; try to catch a keeper talk if you can. The Sea Life Aquarium offers a unique boat penguin ride that’s short but pretty cool.

How I use pinterest to plan all of my trips

I get asked all the time how I find the places I visit. People usually think I’m joking when I tell them that I use Pinterest to plan the majority of my trips. I follow travel bloggers on Pinterest and am inspired by their adventures inspire. Since I can usually click straight to a blog article, the images on Pinterest grab my attention and then I can click on them to give me details to plan a trip.

Pinterest gives you glimpses of places that no other site could. While I can’t plan my entire trip with Pinterest, the platform allows me to find things that I wouldn’t have otherwise! It helps me organize my trip and highlights the things I want to do most. Pinterest truly is a travel girl’s best friend! Here’s how I use Pinterest to plan all of my trips:
